Links on web pages appear in all shapes and forms; text, images, page sections, menu buttons, icons etc. The most common link type is the text link (often blue with a line under to indicate the link). A link can be a useful way of directing visitors to a relevant page on your website or to pages on external sites.
If you are using a silvertrees content management system on your website you can add a text link in a few simple steps:
1. Open the page you want to place the link on - using the page editor.
2. Type and then highlight the link text (this does not have to be the actual webpage address, nor does it have to be 'click here'...)
3. With the link text highligted, click the hyperlink icon in the editor toolbar (looks like the globe with a chain link or magnet)
4. Enter the page address you want to link to in the URL field (for example: www.mysite.com.au/contact.html)
5. Click OK and your text will now appear underlined - depending on the styling of your webpages, the link text will display as other links on your website once you save the page.
Note: if you are using a different system, you will need to add http:// before the www in the address (silvertrees editor does this for you),
or you can enter the link in source mode: <a href="http://www.mysite.com.au/contact.html">Contact me</a>.
